Why Ohio State?Having grown up in Wisconsin, I consider myself a Badger. My husband and late father in-law were graduates of UW-Wisconsin. So, for the past 20 years, I have spent Saturday afternoons in the fall cheering on (or grumbling at) the Badgers. As a result, The Ohio State University and the other Big Ten schools have always been considered the team to beat. Even my 17-year old son, who also considers himself a Badger, couldn't believe I chose Ohio State as my brand to analyze.
However, the reason I did chose Ohio State for my deep-dive brand analysis was because of the school's impressive accomplishments with mobile applications. This educational institution has set the gold standard in creating mobile apps to engage its many constituents. From prospective and current students to alumni and donors, the Ohio State University Communications department, in my opinion, has excelled at creating mobile apps to meet the diverse needs of its broad audience groups. In addition, these comprehensive mobile apps strategically deepen engagement and brand loyalty. My employer, Marquette University High School, unfortunately does not have the funds to create such robust mobile applications. However, through this brand analysis, I am now more aware of how educational institutions can implement mobile apps to enhance engagement and to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of the many audiences they serve, all while ensuring the school's financial sustainability. |
