The university's main campus is located in Columbus, Ohio, and covers more than 1,700 acres with 451 buildings. Through 14 different colleges, Ohio State offers 175 undergraduate majors and 240 master’s, doctoral, and professional degree programs.
U.S. News & World Report ranks Ohio State at #14 in its annual Top Public Universities listing. Part of this recognition can be attributed to the university's robust research activities. The university’s total research expenditures in 2010-2011 topped $828 million. OSU's research spans all discipline areas, with a special focus in critical areas such as global climate change, cancer, infectious disease, advanced materials, and ag-bio products. The Ohio State website states: "In a recent national ranking of top colleges and universities, Ohio State posted the 12th strongest brand equity in the nation and 3rd among public universities.
